COVID-19 UPDATES
We are happy to announce ProHealth Physiotherapy's reopening to all of our clients as of June 1, 2020.
After taking some time to adapt to the new circumstances while taking in only emergency cases, we have now put in place all of the necessary safety precautions and protocols required by the Public Health Ontario, the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, and the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. Every measure pertaining to infection control, physical distancing, or general hygiene is in place to ensure your safety as our clients, as well as our own safety. Please review the comprehensive list of health and safety protocols in the section below.
If you are already with us, then we will reach out to you with the information you need so that you can resume your usual in-clinic sessions. Virtual rehabilitation or Tele Rehabilitation still remains an excellent option for many clients and will continue to be offered by our physiotherapists.
If you are a new client, then please reach out to us at (905) 867-3541 or visit our website at www.physiomississauga.com, so that we can schedule an appointment. You will be screened over the phone, and then booked at your earliest convenience. You will later be screened once more approx. two hours before your appointment.
ProHealth Physiotherapy’s Health & Safety Protocols
We have implemented safety measures recommended by our professional organizations through IPAC and Public Health Ontario, and have taken the initiative to add some protocols of our own so that we can all feel and be safe.
• Our treatments are provided in private treatment rooms which allow for less contact and maximum cleanliness
• The waiting room has been rearranged to observe two-meter social distancing
• Protective barriers have been installed at the front desk
• Floor signs ensure one-way flow of people around clinic
• Gym equipment usage zones clearly marked to maintain required physical distancing
• Signage throughout the space reminding people to keep safe physical distancing – two meters while in clinic
• Signage on the importance of frequent hand washing and proper sanitization of public space
• Therapists use appropriate Protective Personal Equipment (PPE), including gloves, masks, face shields and gowns/scrubs
• All clients must wear face masks and gloves while inside the clinic
• Therapists thoroughly wash, dry, and disinfect their hands between clients
• All clients must wash or disinfect their hands before entering clinic, and again before leaving the clinic
• All fabric surfaces have been covered with vinyl that is sprayed and hospital-grade disinfectants are used after each client
• We disinfect all surfaces that clients or therapists touch immediately after each client leaves the clinic (e.g. point-of-sale machine, door handles, handrails, light switches, desks, treatment modalities, gym equipment, treatment tables, chairs, footstools, keyboard, mouse etc.)
• Accessible hand sanitizer dispensers in each room
• Soap dispensers and paper towels in each washroom
• Appointment times are staggered to ensure none of our clients will encounter another client inside or right outside the clinic
• We change the treatment table linens (pillow cases, towels, examination table paper) and sanitize each table or equipment after each appointment
o towels, gowns, and pillow cases are thoroughly machine-washed in hot water, and used exam table paper is thrown out
o pillows have been covered with vinyl or plastic covers (underneath the pillow cases) that are sanitized after each use.
Patients' Screening and Appointment Protocol
A three-step screening protocol will be implemented before you enter the clinic, including two passive screens and one active at the door to the clinic. If you are experiencing any respiratory or flu-like symptoms, have been in proximity to someone with such symptoms, or have travelled to any areas known to have high incidence of COVID-19, we kindly ask that you wait a period of 14 days before coming to an appointment. Please call us, we will be happy to reschedule your appointment and will NOT charge for cancelling and rescheduling your appointment.
We ask all clients to please wear their own face masks during treatment sessions. If you do not have a mask, we will provide you with a single-use mask straight out of its box. Please wash or disinfect your hands upon entering the clinic, and once more just before you leave.
We will continue being aware of changes to Public Health Ontario protocols, and implement any recommended safety measures that that we haven't already as soon as we learn about them.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and doing your part in ensuring everyone's safety and health.
Please download our Safety & Appointment Protocols poster here for an overview of these protocols.
Virtual Rehabilitation or Tele-Rehab
We continue to offer tele-rehab services to all new and existing clients as an alternative to in-clinic therapy. We are using a secure video software called Physitrack for all virtual appointments. This is different from Zoom, as it complies with healthcare privacy regulations. Once you book a virtual appointment with your therapist, you will be emailed a link to this appointment. You may then either download Physitrack program onto your device if you do not already have it, or just use your web browser to continue to your virtual physiotherapy session.
If you are a new patient, you will receive electronic intake and consent forms several hours before your appointment, and you will connect with a therapist at your scheduled appointment time. During your appointment, you and your therapist will be able to see and hear each other if there are no technical difficulties. Your therapist will start by asking you a few questions to understand your specific needs and how she can help.
During the treatment part of your virtual appointment, we visually and verbally guide you through rehabilitative movements aimed at your needs so that you can later practice those exercises successfully by yourself in the comfort of your own home.
Our therapists are ready to provide you with any assistance you may need to benefit from this new form of physical therapy. If you would prefer receiving exercise guidance over the phone, then that can also be arranged for.
We thank you for your patience, and look forward to resume your physiotherapy and massage care.
